FLEISCHMANN 868871 Sleeping car "MITROPA", epoch II, Gauge N. In 1916, the "Central European sleeping and dining car", or "MITROPA AG" for short, was founded in Berlin. The first absolute highlights at the beginning of the 1920s were the luxury trains “Scandinavia-Switzerland Express”, “London-Holland-Munich Express” and “London-Berlin Express”. In a relatively short time the whole of Europe became enthusiastic about “MITROPA”. The sleeping cars were considered the most comfortable in the world. In 1944 "MITROPA" managed almost 600 sleeping and restaurant carriages.
